Kylie Slavik

Kylie is a poet, activist and healer who co-founded ThirdEyeSpoken with Lacey Nagy and Gene Moore in 2005. She graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in English in 2004 and since then has been a vital force in creating poetry and art events around town. Her main interests right now are creating multiple non-profit human rights organizations. Her work is focused on fusing together politics, art, and healing, believing that neither sphere is complete without the other two and that all can be utilized to create a more compassionate, loving world. Her influences and inspirations include the underground hiphop movement, the Sufi Ruhaniat, Allaudin Ottinger, drums, nature, Lacey Jai Ma, the sweatlodge ceremony, New Zealand, Jaguar Medicine, Lord Michael, Lord Ganesha, TARA, ISIS, Saul Williams, Queen Sheba, ancient civilizations, Ms. Ma, and all the poets and mystics who have ever breathed. She is a student of Reiki, Shamanic Healing, drumming, QiGong, Yoga, and the First Light Native Flower Essences of New Zealand. During the days she works as a youth mentor at the Teen Zone after school programs teaching spoken word art and bringing in various cultural programs to share with the kids.
